just one minute
here's the thing.
if i try to fix too many things at once, i'll burn out when i'm tired and drained, and i won't be able to keep up.
instead, i pick one thing i really want to improve and commit to it every day for a couple of months.
i keep it small.
- a 1-minute workout
- 1-minute reading session
- 1-minute meditation
- 1-minute study.
one minute. that's it.
sounds pointless? that's why it works. when it's just one minute, i can't talk myself out of it.
once i feel confident that i've built that routine, i start adding the next habit on top. one at a time.
always embarrassingly small.
it's easy to get frustrated when change doesn't show up quickly. i remind myself to be patient. this is a marathon, not a sprint.
those minutes add up. more importantly, i'm becoming someone who shows up every day.
trying to change everything at once means fighting my entire life. i burn out.
changing one tiny thing means no resistance. it slips into my day. once it's normal, i build on it.
i pick my thing. one minute. i start today.
at least that's how i stay motivated, and maybe it'll work for you too.
